Podcast Espisode 2

Hello everyone welcome back to the second episode of “Thai New Year”. I am your host again, Puttipat Siwachairot Thai New Year is a podcast that represent about Thai culture. I am today’s episode. I will represent about Songkran festival or Thai New Year, It begins on April 13 to 15 every year. Its period the hottest day in summer time. We will throw water to each other. But The traditional way we do to say greeting is SA WAS DEE PI MAI is same meaning “Happy New Year” and we usually go to the temple to pray and make a merit. Thai think going to temple to donate money or stuff and clean Buddha is a good start of New year. The way we cleaning Buddha is mixing Thai fragrance  with water and then gently clean like bathing, Another activity is molding sand in the sathupa-shape and decorating with color flags. Songkran celebration or we call “Rod Nam Dam Hua” is the way to show respect for elder people, Most Thai people go back to the hometown to meet Thai family and celebrate. Now a day Songkran day is change to the festival. It is very famous for foreigner because we will have visitor from many country to visit for this festival that they will closed the roads throwing water, water gun and some people use chalk to paint each other.Today time’s up Thank you to listen my podcast.
